General Meeting - May 13th, 2015

A great opportunity to network.

This is the first in a series of two part, informational meetings. The first half of the meeting will offer specific guidance on a particular issue. The second half will allow you to ask specific questions to problems you're dealing with in the business.

Complain / Manage / Challenge

Complain, Manage, Challenge. That's the basic evolutionary cycle of progress and like it or not complaining is usually the first step.

May's meeting will deal with the new Solid Waste and Recycle ordinance. We will discuss a landlord's duties and responsibilities, the new LAGN addendum, the instructional video you should  be using, as well as tips in how to manage the problem of tenant move out waste and construction debris.

LAGN member fined $250.00 by City of Niagara Falls

It doesn't take many times getting hit over the head with a "FINE" club to sit up and take notice that something has to change. One of our members was fined for her tenants’ failure to put their trash out according to the new rules. According to the new Solid Waste and Recycle ordinance 911, the first offense is supposed to be a warning but she received a $250 fine. So why wasn't the law challenged? Do you wonder or care about what can happen to you under these new rules? Is this the intention of the law? Is this what we lobbied for?

Your Questions Answered

Quite a few landlords call us to ask specific questions but it's not easy for more experienced members to field questions during their work life because this business has its demands. That's why we are going to open the meeting up to your specific questions and while we aren't qualified to give legal advice we can share our collective experiences to help shed light on processes and procedures you will almost inevitably have to face some day.

Hope to see you there...
